Q. What does CPI stand for?
Q. Do you calibrate any brand of gage blocks?
A. CPI stands for Cincinnati Precision Instruments.
A. Yes

Q. What kind of precision instruments do you sell? Q. How accurate is the Calibration Report?
A. We sell precision instruments for surveying equipment as well as many calipers and meters for all kinds of applications.
A. The accuracy of calibration is referred to as the Uncertainty of Calibration. This uncertainty depends upon many external factors that are taken into consideration during the calibration process. We continue to strive to lower our measurement uncertainty.

Q. How often should tools be calibrated?
Q. How long does calibration take?
A. Common sense, practicality and quality requirements all contribute to calibration frequency guidelines. The frequency of calibration is determined by you the user with consideration given to usage, care, and desired accuracy.
A. Normal turnaround time is 7 to 10 working days. This can vary due to the type of tool and our workload.

Q. Do you rent gages?
Q. Do I really need a certificate of calibration?
A. Our Survey department does rent equipment, however our Calibration department does not offer rental equipment.
A. Need is usually determined by necessity. If the contract or quality requirements necessitate readings and documented traceability to NIST, then YES, you need a Certificate of Calibration.

Q. Are gage blocks stoned and deburred before calibration? Q. Do you replace out of tolerance or missing gage blocks?
A. Yes, all gage blocks are lightly stoned prior to calibration to remove minor nicks and burrs.
A. Yes, but only if you request it.

Q. What equipment or instrumentation is used to calibrate my gage blocks? Q. What items do you calibrate?
A. Calibrations are performed by a comparison system on electronic comparators made by Federal.
A. We calibrate a wide range of tools from angle blocks to Zeiss machines. Take our lab tour to learn more about our capabilities.

Q. Do I need a Return Authorization Number to send in gages for calibration or repair?
A. No, but we ask that you provide a purchase order with the shipment.
